Ryton tasting the Ale

(Posted On Wed 16 July, 2008)

A message of thanks from Captain Fantastic Mr Moore..

A great team performance...nothing more to say really other than well done the Ryton boys - a great team effort!!

Ryton knocked an impressive 134 for 8 - Neil Robinson with 56 and Patrick Fordham 29, then the bowlers keeping Aletasters to a poor 98 for 5 thanks to some excellent tight bowling - young and senior.

That's the end to the Aletasters unbeaten record...Next?

Ryton v Coquet

(Posted On Mon 14 July, 2008)

Following the terrible weather over the last week or so, Ryton managed to start their tie against Coquet on Wednesday 9th July. With Ryton batting first, Peter Moore managed an excellent 59 not out, Graham Rowell demonstrating some massive hitting talent for a worthy 50 not out, and Patrick Fordham scoring a useful 23 - Ryton put on a total of 144 for 1 off 12 '8 ball' overs - despite the falling rain.

With Ryton's innings at an end, and the rain continuing, the two captains decided that no further play was possible - and the game was abandoned before a ball was bowled in the 2nds innings.

So a pretty miserable end to the evenings cricket, once again thanks to the British Summer.

Ryton look forward to the away trip to the Aletasters on Wednesday 16th.

Park House revenge

(Posted On Mon 7 July, 2008)

Ryton's midweek team pulled off an impressive win over Park House, with stand-in skipper Peter Moore hitting 96, and Michael Natress contributing 53 not out to see Ryton with an impressive total of 159 for 1 off 14 8 ball overs.

Ryton's bowlers were equally impressive keeping Park House to a managable 120 for 3. On the bowling front, under 15 paceman Dean Henderson and the more senior Darren Biggs and Dan Clarke all took a wicket each, along with some excellent line and length bowling from under 13 wizards Declan Ellis and David Howarth.

Well done lads, young and old...a top team effort!!

Ryton v Coquet - Wednesday 9th July WEATHER WATCH

(Posted On Mon 7 July, 2008)

Following the terrible weather over the weekend, Ryton's ground looked more like Ryton Lido than Ryton CC. With more rain forecast over the next day or so, it will be touch and go for this weeks fixture.

As soon as I get word from the miracle workers Morris Snr and Scottie, I'll let you know!!

Failing that, prepare for fixture congestion later in the season fellas!!
