The S.C.C. social committee are proud to announce the first & possibly the best (barring the end of season Dublin tour of duty) day out of the year! Forget Royal Ascot, ignore the Derby, and pooh pooh the common man's Grand National, we are talking Hexham races!!!! Set in the salubrious surroundings of the wonderful Hexhamshire Moors (moors being found in the country (Chris Harrison) to help townies (David Moodie)), and a view as far as your double vision can see. Hexham racecourse is the hidden gem of the equine world.
Before you all rush out and rent your tux & top hat, not only are we talking a day at the races, we are talking a curry as well! After bashing the bookies and oiling our throats with Hexhamshires finest ale (Speckled Frog Ale with a deed rat in the bottom) we shall all retire content (unless you follow Andy Harrison's tips) to the Valley Indian Restaurant in Corbridge. This famed restaurant is handily set on the train station platform, ready to whisk urban warriors back home to Newcastle.
This really is not a day to miss and it's not even an England world cup game. A whole day on the sauce .....marvellous. It will cost around £12 entry to the members enclosure at the races (it may cost less as Chris Harrison, close friends of the local squire Major Charles Enderby will have a word) or a superb £19 for our own corporate box (if we get 25 people attending). Train fares return to Newcastle are under a tenner. Dress code is casual or smart casual if you want. The rest is up to how much nectar you can force down your neck!!!
So come on have a great day out and make a fool of yourself for the S.C.C. photo album.
Many thanks
