Heaton Medicals was the venue for top of the table clash between Fenham and Genetics on a fine night which saw Fenham maintain their 100% record. Genetics worked their way to 95-6 from 16 overs, with M. Gardner the only player to take on Fenham's fearsome pace attack with an aggressive 28. An impressive batting display against the side which refused Shoaib Akhtar's requests to make a guest appearance due to fears he would weaken the bowling attack.
Mukhtar with 3- 29 and Razaq with 2-22 led the way but Riaz and Tariq both bowled equally well and Genetics had to fight for every run.
Fenham were made to work hard for their win and lost 5 wickets on their way to 99 but once again Mukhtar smashed a quick 30*, with his first three scoring shots being 6's, which pretty much ended Genetics hopes of a win. Mohsin played a great anchor role with 23* and Qasim hit 20 at the top to keep Fenham up with the rate early on, and Fenham eased to a 5 wk win with more than two overs to spare.
With Mukhtar picking up his 4th consecutive MoM award we will be writing to David Blunkett to see if there is any chance of getting him deported.
