Ryton managed to play their last midweek game of the season on Friday 22nd August. With both home and away fixtures previously falling foul of the glorious summer weather, both Captains agreed the fixture as an all-out double header!
With fine weather for most of the day quickly turning to rain around 5pm, both teams turned up and agreed to play 10 overs per innings.
Stocksfield batted first and started slowly following some tight line and length from the Ryton bowlers. With conditions improving, Stocksfield managed to put on 49 from their 10 overs without losing a wicket. Stevens finishing with figures of 3-1-0-6.
With the rain gone and some light at last, Stocksfield took to the field and Ryton began a mini-batting collapse, only opener Lawson managing to keep the momentum going. Once joined by Captain Moore, the Stocksfield total was never enough.
Lawson 20 not out, Moore 19 not out, with Stocksfield's Newton taking 3 well deserved wickets.
Both teams should be commended for agreeing to play, especially considering the conditions at 5.55pm - cheers everyone...some cricket at last!!
