Welcome to the Home of NE England Mid Week Cricket
Welcome to the North-East Mid-Week Cricket League web site. Here every team that plays in the league can have their own area for team specific news, personalised fixture listings, and batting and bowling averages, team profile, history and instructions to where they play.
The league, founded in 1970, has been growing in stature ever since into one of the largest leagues in the North of England. Over the many seasons there has been a maximum of 43 teams and 5 divisions. For the 2025 season 32 teams will play in 4 divisions of 8 and there will be the usual Cup and Plate competitions with Finals day on Sunday 17th August at Whitley Bay CC.
A full History of the league from its formation through to current times is available and teams are invited to enquiry about joining through the " Contact Us" page of this web site.

The Presentations went well and the curry was good. Many thanks to League President Sid Mitcheson for the presentations, Kevin Dawson for the photography and Blue Flames for the good arrangements.
Only 18 teams were represented but some in good numbers. The absent teams are each fined £10 to be settled soonest and Eelam Boys are fined another £50 for the none-appearance of the historic Len Presland Trophy, the return of which is now anxiously being sought.
There will be an important Management Committee Meeting in November with new supporting members being invited. Registration forms for 2027 will be issued in late December for applications before or on the AGM late January. New and returning members are welcome to apply.

Eelam Boys have resigned 1st September; 2027 projected structure has been revised in the League Table.
Please note the fines to be settled soonest and the need to return all trophies before or at the meeting. NB 50 GBP fines apply for missing trophies. See attached holders.
Meeting start at Blue Flames, Belsay Suite Thursday 3rd September is 7:30pm prompt.

Presentations follow the meeting around 8pm requiring
return of all league cups, shields and salvas currently held. Concern for three trophies, see attached list.
Free HOT buffet ordered for 8:40 pm.
Quite large individual trophies this year, 15 off for each of the four divisional winning teams.

Top bowler: Sadiq Khan, Matfen CC
Wicket Keeper award: Amir Riaz, Matfen CC
Fair Play award: Graeme Turnbull, Whitley Bay

Brilliant day at Bates Cottages. Report and Photos
Plate Final: Matrics Barbarians 172-4 (99) beat
Fenham Falcons 168-5 (100) with only 1 ball to spare.
Mon: Rohin Aatif 68* (4; 5)
Cup Final: Eelam Boys 127-7 (100) beat
Newcastle Stars 104 all out (93).
MoM Ross Symington 20-13-18-4.
Thanks to Bates, Umpires Ray Wood and Vrajendra Gaur and all who made it a special day with a large crowd well entertained.

One week remains for the League fixtures with the title going to the wire.
The two cup semi-finals are still to be decided next week.ÂÂ
Finals Day is Sunday 16th August at Bates Cottages, Plate 11:30; Cup 2:30 approximately.
Umpires will be Ray Wood and Vrajendra Gaur. Scorer Required:
The MC require a volunteer to digitally score both games. A fee as per the umpires will be paid.
Teams for finals day must bring their own supporting scorer.
