2009 End of Season Report

Report of Meeting Held on Friday 4th September 2009

The Meeting was held at Blue Flames Sporting Club and attended by the Secretary, Don Catley; Alec Dodds, Tony Glover, Angela Hughes, Rob Kenmir, John Reed, Chris Roberts and Peter Woodley of the Management Committee together with representatives from thirty one League Clubs and two clubs applying to join the league. There was also a background of supporting members and our associates awaiting the Presentations and buffet.

Cup Final
Seaton Burn (Fined £5) conceded to Beamish & East Stanley who then lost to Hylton with the toss of a coin after the Hylton pitch was decided to be unfit.
GEM 107-4 beat YAARS 105-7 (12 off 8 ball overs).
Final-GEM 235 all out (23.4 off 8 ball overs) beat Hylton 91 all out (17.7); More details to follow shortly.

End of Season Presentation Evening

The End of Season Meeting and Presentations Night will be held at Blue Flames on Friday night 4th September commencing 7:30 prompt.

A significant prize for our annual Grand Draw has been donated by our regular sponsor Fenwick; thank you again, Fenwick! Further donations are invited.

A bar will operate in the meeting room and the meeting will be followed around 8:15 prompt by the Presentations and a Free Buffet; Teams are invited to attend in strength; to assist with catering estimations please contact Don Catley by Monday 1st September where more than a single Club representative will attend. There will be the usual 15 off medals per Winning Clubs and Runners-Up Clubs and 40 off Best Performance medals to issue to individuals on a ‘first come first served’ basis, commencing with players claiming 4 or more League Man of the Match Awards.

All Cups & Shields must be returned; £20 fines apply!

Cup Final & End of Season

GEM 107-4 beat YAARS 105-7 (12 overs) and Hylton beat Beamish & East Stanley with toss of a coin after the pitch at Hylton was declared unfit. Previously Seaton Burn had conceded to Beamish and are fined £5.

The Cup Final on Sunday will thus be between Hylton and GEM. It is a 1:30pm start at Swalwell CC. Spectators encouraged to attend.

Well done to all the semi-finalists for getting decisions tonight.

All league games must be completed today and hopefully the final tables can be announced on Monday or soonest.

Also: Gordonians CC (Aberdeen) are desperately seeking matches on Fri 4th and Sat 5th Sept 2009. If any club can entertain one of these fixtures then please contact Mike Edwards directly on 01451 850232 or michael.edwards23@virgin.net
