Respect for Umpires Please Sadly, there has been a further altercation (but not physical violence) involving an umpiring decision. A playing member has been banned for one game following a passing comment of an unsavoury kind made by this none-striking batsman to the umpire. The receiving batsman was given out LBW by a neutral umpire with a second neutral umpire standing at square leg. In line with the recommendations of the square leg umpire, the Management Committee have voted to impose a one match ban and the player concerned has been informed and warned as to his future conduct. In line with the ECB directive, the name of the banned player will not be generally announced, but those teams involved will be informed. The player’s name will be given to Ian Wardle for the ECB and directly to the Northumberland League for their information. There are further issues here which will be followed up by the Management Committee.
Standards please: Scorecards are not arriving soon enough and often not filled in correctly with division, week number and sometimes even the wickets missing. Fines will be imposed for late cards. Please report the dates of rearrangements for postponed fixtures,
Fines Summary
Conceding games £5: Merz & McLellan, £10: Seaton Burn; £5: Tyne & Wear Fire Service, £5 West End. NB! Fines are subject to an increase of £5 for each month they are not paid.
Messages from Ian Wardle: http://www.ncb.play-cricket.com – Details of a Safeguarding & Protecting Children course, Tynemouth CC on Tuesday 23rd June at 11am. See also for OSCAs nominations form.

Sunday 7th June at Swalwell Cricket Ground.
New opponents for this fixture are the Northumberland League who won the toss and invited the North-East Mid-Week Cricket League to bat in a 40 over feature game.
After a fairly slow start with both openers failing to find their form, it was left to Andy Gibson, Anthony Ward and Graeme Rowell (52) to steady the ship. However the Northumberland League bowlers got to work again forcing a tail end collapse. A Dover ended up with figures of 3.2 0 18 4 (including a hat trick!) and NEMWCL were left on a modest 149 all out after 29.2 overs.
This total was dutifully reached after 26.2 overs for the loss of 3 wickets with S Middlemiss (48) and Sewell (44 no) taking the honours. First win to the Northumberland League.
Many thanks to Swalwell CC for hosting the fixture, to the umpires Brian Tilley and Harry Stephenson and the scorer Ross Beeson.
