Much needed victory for Adders at Seaton Burn

(Posted On Wed 20 June, 2007)

A good win away at Seaton Burn yesterday saw the Adders lift themselves out of a relegation place. Having lost the toss and being asked to bat on a poor wicket, another opening partership of over 100 between Paul Walker (64*) and Chris Wilkie (53) got us off to a great start, and we set a good total of 134-1 in our 14 overs. Some good tight bowling from Adrian Miller (4-0-20-1) and Trevor Mavin (3-0-13-0) got us off to a good start, and with Lalith tightening things up even more with another good spell, we managed to restrict Seaton Burn to 108-3 from their 14 overs, leaving us with 7 points from the game.

Chris Kennelly gets his way on orange balls!!

(Posted On Tue 12 June, 2007)

Having sat in the team bag unsullied for a couple of years, Adders' orange cricket balls are now officially allowed to be used in matches. The new ruling is as follows:

In NEMWCL games it is OK to use the orange balls so long as both sides agree and have the balls made available to them for both innings should the bowling side wish to use them. They must be of Grade A standard. This is an experimental situation and any experiences and reactions will be discussed at the end of season meeting.

This will come as great news to Chris Kennelly whose crazy idea it was to buy the things in the first place.

At least we can conctenrate on the league!

(Posted On Tue 12 June, 2007)

Friday's rearranged first round cup game at Monkseaton ended in disappointment. After restricting Monkseaton Saints to 102-8 from 14 overs, Adders could only manage 70-4 from their 14 overs, with only Chris Cowley offering real resistance on his return to the team with 23. No game this week, but we play Seaton Burn away in the league next week on Tuesday 19th June.

Another win!

(Posted On Tue 15 June, 2004)

Another good win last night - Coquet defeated! Disastrous batting collapse (on terrible wicket, it must be said) until Lalith knocked a spectacular 47 not out to show us all that the pitch wasn't unplayable. Great bowling by all perfomance rounded off the match.
