CCC have set up a dream second round clash with League One giants Kirkwood, after their dramatic cup win against Ratcatchers at Heaton last night.
Set an improbable 121 to win off 14 overs, CCC looked to be heading for defeat at 35-3 after 7 overs, before Matt blasted an amazing 44 off little more than 3 overs, including one enormous six on to the roof of the stand. Still requiring 10 an over off the last 4 overs, the middle order saw the team home, with Paul hitting an excellent 24.

CCC are hoping to spring one or two surprises when they play The Ratcatchers in the League Cup next week.
It will be the first ever meeting between the two teams, with CCC looking to embark on a cup run to rival that of 2003, when they went all the way to the second round having disposed of top flight Whickam Glebe with a convincing bye.
"We've never played Ratcatchers before," said club secretary Cliff Spencer. "We reckon we can surprise them, and we thought the best way to surprise them was to hold a press conference beforehand, and suggest the areas where we are strong, and those where we are weak."
"It's just possible that they might surprise us, of course", he added, "so it's a win-win situation for the spectator with the potential for lots of surprises in store. On the other hand I suppose there could be no surprises, in which case the element of surprise will be missing," he continued, before tripping over his own tongue.

In a shock development this lunchtime it has been revealed that North East Midweek League Division 2 sides CCC and Genetics are to merge.
The news was broken following a phone call from CCC secretary Cliff Spencer to club captain Simon Edwards, who then leaked it shamelessly. It seems that CCC Club President Roger French visited Genetics captain Gary Van Doorn accompanied by two 'colleagues' to "suggest" the merger. The arrangements were apparently conducted in an "entirely amicable" manner, with Van Doorn tied to his kitchen chair "only gently and in an unpright posture". His head was slapped by French's leather glove "only once or twice".
The new super-club will play at Heaton for the present, though a move to a purpose-built out of town ground is on the cards following the stock market flotation.
Roger French has been appointed Chief Executive of the new club (provisionally titled CCC) and Derek Marshall has been appointed Business Development Manager. Van Doorn has been appointed Chief Underling.
The size of the squad dictates that the new club will run a reserve side. This will play in Division 4 and will be provisionally called Genetics.
