At Cowgate, Rowlands were put into bat by Kirkwood. Skipper for the day, Ross McLaren and Lewis 'Goose' Bruce led the attack. They started in brisk fashion with 24 off the first three overs but lost Lewis for 11 (one 4), when Bilal Haider dislodged his bail. Ross continued well and was ably supported by a resurgent Roy Haygarth. Roy was bowled by Ali for 29 (two 4s) and Ross worked a magnificent 69 (four 4s and three 6s) before being caught off the slower stuff from Shobir Choudry. Craig Turnbull 9 not out and Chad Koen 0 not out did some important late running to achieve a team total of 148-3 off 14 overs.
Kirkwood came in to bat, determined to take on this challenging total. Following the late withdrawals of Sunil and David Ladd with pressing work commitments, Rowlands had to field with 10 men. Kirkwood openers Choudry and Yasem set about James Morris and John McCredie. James was rested after two overs for 19 and Big John after three overs for 27 but the wickets of Yasem, well caught by Ross and Nadir bowled. Don Catley came on and bowled Parag Cheuhan with a slower one, then bowled Hassan and had Choudry well stumped by Rob Burns for his 24. Kirkwood were still scoring runs and Martin Rownan went for 27 off 2. Don then claimed Haider (33) , caught by Ross off a skier at wide mid on to complete 4-0-32-4. Big John returned to complete 4-0-38-3 with the important wicket of Amrit Crawford. The kirkwood late run chase was restricted with a good over from Chad Koen who took 1-7 and James Morris returned with 17 to win needed off the last over. Only 13 came off it and the last ball resulted in an lbw to give James 3-0-32-1 and Rowlands the tight win. Don was elected Man of the Match by Kirkwood, just ahead of that magnificent controlled batting display from skipper Ross.

Rowlands beat Monkseaton Saints in an eagerly awaited quarter final. A much changed Rowlands took the field led by James Davidson against an expectant Monkseaton side. Rowlands batted first on a green looking deck and lost a couple of early wickets. Shaun fell for 2 and James Welsh 3. Keith Brown steadied the ship with 18 and Lewis Bruce 17. Davo continued to accumalate and finished unbeaten with 60 not out and John McCredie was also not out 2. Rowlands managed a steady 110/4 in 14 overs. Monkseaton started poorly and could not get a bat on Big John. Browny swung the ball and Monkseaton were soon struggling with wickets falling and the rate climbing. Keith Beown 4-0-16-3 and Credo 4-0-8-1. The change bowling of Rob Walker 3-0-15-2 and Shaun 3-0-8-2 continued the good work cleaned up the tail as Monkseaton were 56 all out.

Genetics elected to bat and were greeted with superb bowling by James Morris and Chad. James wes getting good lift and generated a good catch for Matt behing the stumps then removed some stumps all in his first over. Chad also bowled two out after beating the bat several times. Genetics were 20 for 4 and struggling after six overs: James 3-0-13-2, Chad 3-1-12-2. Time for a change so Don 3-0-8-0 and Rob Burns 3-0-10-1 kept up the pressure. Another change by skipper Alan saw Roy 2-0-13-1 and newcomer, young Josh Koen 2-0-13-2, justify their opportunities. James Davidson and Matt combined well for a run out. With the last ball of the match, and Genetics on 76-9, it was a superb throw to the far end by Matt that won Rowlands the final bowling point rather than Genetics getting their batting point.
The Rowlands openers, James Davidson and Ritchie Evans took command of the opening bowlers and progressed at a steady 7 an over until Ritchie was bowled for 14 by change bowler Tim Davis. James stayed in control as Sunil went for 1 and Alan for 4 both out to Davis, bowling well for his 4-0-15-3. Roy 13 not out with steady, Man of the Match James not out 32 obtained the required runs. Rowlands 77-3 off 11.0 overs took maximum points.

Tynemouth defied the surrounding storms and stayed perfectly dry for Rowlands' second home night of the week. What a contrasting performance this against the Old Record Players! Alan won the toss and sent in Rob Farenheim and Cambridge starlet Lewis who promptly put on some 120 for the first wicket. Rob left a foot behind and was lbw for a magnificent MoM 83 including 10 fours and two sixes. In came Matt to push Lewis on to his half century with more 1s and 2s than boundaries. Matt achieved 17 not out and Lewis 53 not out (5 fours) in a commanding 158-1 off 14 overs. Walter James took the only wicket for 23 off 3 overs.
The ORP reply did not get off the deck as Browny in his first over bowled Jim Sowter and Chad Koen enhanced his reputation further in his first over by bowling Holroyd. ORP were in a spin with further wickets from this pair, Browny 3-0-6-2 and Chad 3-0-12-2. Rather than take pity, Alan sent on the heavy brigade with Don 2-0-12-0 and John McCredie 2-0-7-2 to suppress OPR further. At the 10 over mark the score was only 37-6. Roy, stiff from sitting in his pads all night, did well with 2-0-7-0 and Rob Burns completed with 2-0-17-0 as the B side of Colin Quigley (15*) and Walter James (14*) pushed on without further loss to 62-6 at the close. Gregg got in a good stumping and a catch and there were catches for each of the Hynds.

The rearranged league game with Gateshead Fell Cavaliers was a low key affair with the Fell batting first and reaching only 83-9. Dave Charlton started well but his third over went for 14 and Robbie Burns was hit for 16 off two to see the Fell on 37 off the first 5. In stepped Don and then newcomer Chad Koen to start the procession of wickets. Chad bowled pintsized Tom Pinkney who had hit four fours in his 21 and then Don took out Frank Middlemiss for 25. Runs were getting more difficult due to good tight Rowlands fielding and this included young recruit Ben Richardson at mid-wicket/covers. Don had 2-10 off three when Roy was brought into the action and he obliged with 2-9 off 2 including a superb c&b. Chad meantime impressed with his 2-17 off 4. Dave came back to claim a wicket in his final over for 4-0-23-1. Don wrapped up with two wickets in his final over and claimed 4-0-17-4 and the Man of the Match award. Catchers were Greg, Roy (c&b), Rob (2) and Colin with Greg being awarded a stumping at the sixth time of serious asking! Two close run out appeals off the lightening fielding of Roy had also been denied.
So, 84 to win off 16 and how many batting points could we get? Colin started slowly but firmly and David Ladd was pushing singles but he was adjudged lbw for 3 in the fourth over with the score on 12. Keith was out caught at the second attempt for only 2 and Roy was bowled first ball by John Nichols. Alan played forward to the spin of Anthony Trotter but was bowled around his legs for 4. Young Ben went also bowled Trotter for 2, Colin was caught by Trotter off Nichols for 18 (no boundaries this time) and Rowlands were well behind the clock at 35-5. Rob Burns tried a few hits and achieved the first (and only) boundary of the innings before being caught for 9. The pairing of Chad and Greg for the eigth wicket gave some hope. The youngsters ran many efficient singles and twos to each score 12, although Chad was run out with one ball to play. Don obliged at the non-strikers end whilst Greg hit a single. This left Rowlands on 73-8 and was a 10 run defeat. The answer was NO batting points!
