RCA keep unbeaten record ................just!

(Posted On Tue 21 June, 2005)

RCA somehow managed to keep their league unbeaten record in tact with a 1 run victory against Monkseaton Saints at Monkseaton. Batting first on an 'interesting' wicket RCA stumbled to 84/9 with no-one really getting in. Matt Hynd (16), Colin Tait (13) & Adrian Conway (10)where the only players to make double figures. The bolwing and fileding was a lot better than the batting and Dave Charlton 3-1-14-1 laid a good foundation and some great fielding from Graeme Redpath (2 run outs) changed the game. Martin Ronan 3-0-13-1 impressed and Eddie Collins held his nerve and bowled an excellent last over 4-0-16-2 which meant that RCA pinched a run out off the last ball to gain a one wicket victory and keep the unbeaten run in tact.

Kirkwood defeated

(Posted On Fri 10 June, 2005)

RCA claimed their 4th league win of the season with victory away to title rivals Kirkwood. RCA without a number of regular players scored 133/1 with Shaun Collins scoring his 4th consecutive 50 of the season. Andy Roberts scored 59 on debut in a good opening stand with Shaun. However the star of the show was Eddie Collins who picked up impressive figures of 3-10 and a great run out to change the game. Andy Horner 1-23, Don 1-34 and Shaun Collins 1-17 helped bowl RCA to another 10 point win with Kirkwood falling short at 114 all out.

1 run victory in cup!

(Posted On Fri 10 June, 2005)

RCA stumbled into the next round of the cup with a one run victory away to TWFB. On an ‘interesting’ pitch and outfield RCA scored 97/5 in their 14 overs with the first boundary coming in the last over! Shaun Collins failed for the first time and more worryingly injured a hamstring in the process. Adam Nairn 15 & Matt Hynd 23 Not Out worked hard to accumulate runs but it was left again to the eventual MOM Eddie Collins to smash 25 Not out including 2 big 6s in the last over. Not knowing whether this was enough RCA bowled well for the first few overs and Macca Coulson 4-0-19-1, Dave Charlton 4-0-16-2 & that man Eddie Collins (2-17) again pushed TWFB behind the rate. However a few big blows near the end meant that RCA scraped home with one run to spare to face Kingstonians in the next round.
