Curtain Raiser, 26th April 2009

(Posted On Sun 26 April, 2009)

Curtain Raiser, won today by the President's XI.

A sun soaked afternoon at Medicals, Heaton, saw the traditional start of the season curtain raiser between a President's XI and last years Division one Champions, Genetics.

The President's XI, skippered by Paul Smith, were first to bat and posted a respectable 240 off 40 six ball overs for the loss of 7 wickets, with Richard Marshall hitting 50 and Brian Beeson 67.

Unfortunately for Genetics they were unable to reach such a target achieving 120 all out after 37.2 overs, Andy Jeffery hitting 47.

A good start to the season and played in the best of spirits.

Malcolm Kennedy presented the Merz & McLellan Cup to Paul Smith.
