CCC have won promotion back to the Second Division after a one year absence.
In some respects CCC were lucky. A third placed finish would not normally be enough, but two sides dropped out of the top flight meaning that additional sides were promoted from the lower divisions to fill the gaps. Moreover, CCC's performances during the second half of the season were generally mediocre, with two defeats to relegated Kingstonian the worst results of the season.
However, the last three and a half matches were victims of the pathetic August weather, and thus yielded only 3 points. Despite this a top 2 spot was sustained all season until Ratcatchers managed to dodge the rain to squeeze in a late victory which took them into second. The Corbridge side are promoted alongside CCC, Blue Flames, and deserved champions Monkseaton Saints.
2009's second division lines up as follows: CCC, Monkseaton, Blue Flames, Ratcatchers, Fenham, West End, GEM, Seaton Burn
