After a three week lay off because of the weather, CCC arrived at a Heaton bathed in sunshine, won the toss and chose to bat, Wednesday. They were given a perfect start by Rian (28) and Ian (26), who took the score to 40 after 3 overs. This scoring rate could not be sustained, particularly as the pitch appeared to slow in pace as the innings progressed, but still a challenging target of 120-4 was set (Simon E. 40). Opponents St Teresa's looked in the game at the half way point, with Harrison and Mollon going well, howwever, the introduction of Andy Holden (his first game of the season) pegged them back. Andy bowled superbly to take 3-10, and was backed up as usual by Cliff (3-26) as Saints ended on 86-7.
So CCC take 9 points from this match, which ended with the weather finally closing in and drizzle in the air. It surely cannot be long either before St Teresa's chalk up a win or two in what is a pretty even league.
Team: Rian, Ian, Simon E., Simon W., Keith, George Price, Dr Paul, Cliff, Andy, Chris, Tim (Subs: Alan, Roger, Dave Graham, etc.)
