CCC's vital 4th division clash away to Merz & McClellan could go ahead as scheduled tonight, it has been reported. The match, at picturesque Clara Vale, was plunged into doubt by a long range forecast described by experts as "exceedingly dubious and less than almost perfect". CCC, who hope to have a full team out for tonight's match are looking to consolidate their mid table position.
"We have been watching the weather carefully this week," said Mike Roe-Climate, meteorology expert at Newcastle University, "there has been patchy rain in the west and this was due to move east to dovetail nicely with CCC's Wednesday fixture as usual."
But by lunchtime, despite ominous cloud cover, the rain had yet to materialise. "There is a possibility the game will go ahead. Or it might not. We'll see. The seagulls have moved inland and the cows on the Town Moor are lying down," said our contact, "this usually indicates rain. Or perhaps tired cows. It should arrive promptly at 16:16 today."
Should the game be postponed it may have to be rescheduled next season, due to extreme fixture congestion.
