CCC recorded a second successive Division 3 victory in lovely conditions at Heaton last night. Travellers won the toss and chose to bat. They proceeded steadily against tight bowling and fielding, with CCC protecting one short boundary very well. 80-4 wasn't really enough on this ground, though it was more than had looked likely with a couple of overs remaining. CCC knew that if they batted through their overs and didn't do anything rash they would win. This they did with an over and a half to spare, with Simon E. scoring a painstaking 33, and debutant Steve Campbell batting very steadily and correctly for 17 not out. Though CCC would have liked at least one more bonus point, the fact remains that they have won their first two fixtures in a higher division, which could be all important come the end of the season.
