Needing 141 to win (yes 141!), CCC duly won their fourth consecutive game of the season with two overs to spare, against a very capable SAGE team.
On a lovely sunny evening, SAGE took first use of a perfect batting strip, and quickly set about the CCC attack which seemed hung over from last week's win.
The opening pair put on 80 runs for the first wicket, and some powerful driving and quick running gave CCC plenty of fielding practice, and some problems for the deputising skipper Simon Woodman.
The dressing room mood was however buoyant at the interval, and if there was any thought of defeat no one had told the mighty Rian, who belted the first ball over extra cover to set the tone for a magnificent display of power hitting to reach a match winning 59.
We all knew that Rian had the ability to play this innings, but the ferocity of his shots panicked the SAGE skipper, so that by the third over every fielder was dispatched to guard the distant boundary.
Thanks however to the excellent Kumar(4-21), CCC wickets tumbled at regular intervals, until Mr Woodman stepped to the crease and played a fine Captain's innings of 29 (no), to steer CCC to a record breaking double: a fourth consecutive win, and the highest ever second innings league total.
Well done to all, and congrats to Rian, and to Simon W on his debut as skipper.
Thanks also to SAGE who are a very sporting side.
