Last night a 10-man CCC came about as close as you can get to beating the runaway league leaders Fenham. Put into bat first, Fenham scored a plucky 100 for 5 from their 12 allotted overs. It would have been a good deal less than that save the three consequetive sixes taken from middle stump off the bowling of Hall! So, chasing a difficult target to win, CCC had a cavalier start with Rian batting the only way he can - sixes and fours everywhere! Rian went on to make 54 from not many balls. Then came the collapse. Planchant, Woodman, Reed and Graham all fell in quick succession. However with 4 overs to go, only 16 were needed for victory. With 3 overs to go, 12 were needed for victory. With two overs to go, 3 were needed for victory. Then we ran out of batsmen. Marshall, French and Hall had barely troubled the scorers and CCC were left wondering what might have been.
