CCC fell to a not unexpected defeat against highly rated Kirkwood in the Cup last night.
The game was played at Heaton under heavy cloud and drizzly conditions which did not make cricket easy. Sometimes cricket is not easy for CCC whatever the weather, but at least on this occasion they won the toss and chose to bat. They did this well against decent bowling and excellent sharp fielding. There were no cheap runs to be had. Rian scored 40, but most people chipped in, with the running between the wickets excellent. A total of 94-7 off 14 overs was actually disappointing, given that only 9 were scored off the last 3 overs.
This presented no great challenge to Kirkwood's batsmen who scored the required runs in the 10th over. Special mention should go to Tim, who bowled 4 probing overs and dismissed two batsmen, brilliantly caught by Simon W and Andy.
