After two postponements Rowlands went to Mitford to KO the Boars and win the rights to play Monkseaton Saints away in the quarter finals. Shaun won us the toss and after a late start awaiting the final few Boars, Davo and Shaun took apart their attack with an opening stand of 121 before Shaun holed out for 43 (2 fours and 2 sixes). The short boundaries were fully utilised! Davo went seven runs later, caught at short cow corner, for 68 (3 sixes and 8 fours). The remaining batsmen then tried to make the most of the final four overs and managed to push the score on further to 167-6 off the 16. Lewis mistook the third umpire for a fielder and so Roy was run out 1. Lewis was bowled for 5 and Rob Burns caught for 6 after one big four. James Morris hit three huge sixes in his 19 before offering a catch. This left Sunil 3 not out and Archie 2 not out. Sixth bowler Matt Ellinor was most successful with 3-8 off his two overs.
James Morris bowled a good first over which went for 6 runs and then Don's 'on the spot' first over accounted for Ellinor and Davis for only two runs. James bowled Lees then Don took two more wickets aided by a Matt Hynd regulation catch of skipper Colin Crowe at mid off to complete with 4-1-6-4. James bowled the second of the three Lees for 4-0-16-2. Mitford were 28-7 thanks to a smart run out combination from Man of the Match Davo and Archie. Matt brought Gary Hall and Rob Burns into the attack. The score became a little more respectable but Rowlands were firmly in control. After a loose first over, Rob had Robinson caught by Lewis for 24 and bowled onother to have 3-0-34-2. Gary improved after his varied first over to complete 3-0-18-0. Matt tried one and missed a difficult c&b chance, regretted after two sixes were hit by last man Ed Sides who was not out 22; Matt conceding 17. Lewis bowled out the number 10 for 0.4-0-1-1, letting Sunil rush back to his night shift just on schedule. Mitford made exactly 100 with about 50 coming from the last two pairings!
