Shaun lost the toss for a change batted first against the Old Record Players on a cold May evening at Heaton. Matt made a dogged start but was out in the second over to a simple catch at cover. Shaun and Davo then took the attack of Xohaib and Colin Quigley apart. Davo retired hurt (shoulder tired) after 77 runs including 8 fours and 3 sixes. Shaun kept on going for 90 not out and man of the match with 8 fours and 5 sixes. ORP had never seen the ball go so far! Phil Morse fell cheaply (1) to the left arm over action of Steve o'Mara who also had Keith caught for 21 (3 fours). Roy managed 3 not out in his few balls faced. 200 was a mountain to climb in gloomy conditions for the ORP.
The made a decent start with Xohaib and Duncan Fisher putting on 79 in just under 8 overs. Chad's variation was cannon fodder for his 2-0-27-0 and Phil went for 2-0-19-0 at a similar rate. At the other end, Don recovered from a cold start after umpiring duties to beat the bat several times with the turnnig ball! Matt took the important stumping of Fisher for 39 as Don recorded 4-0-33-1. Keith then straight afterwards repeated the feat as Matt stumped Xohaib for 33. This was the end of the serious ORP challenge. Keith shut up shop with 2-0-11-1, James pitched in with 2-0-6-2 as the batsmen walked off saying "too good for me". Rob Burns bowled well with 2-0-8-0 and new man (not boy!) Ian Younger after excellent fielding took 2-1 off his first over including a third stumping from the alert Matt before getting punished in the last over for 2-0-17-2. Adam Holroyd managed 29 not out in 126-6. Comfortable win for Rowlands and 8 points
