Rowlands hosted Old Record Players with a more typically looking side. Davo and Shaun (who?) opened solidly with Davo cracking a series of splendid off drives in the first over. Shaun was more cautious as he felt his way into the game and notched up 22 (1 four) before a splendid catch one handed at cover by stand in Steve Ayris off Colin Quigley in the 10th over took him out. Xohail 4-0-36-0 and the impressive Tony Glover 4-0-24-0 had been seen off. Dave Hawke batted three and mixed deft touches with aggression to score 14 (1 four) before being bowled by a swinger as Steve O'Mara struck. Keith was good for his 14 (2 fours)until O'Mara repeated his feat. Alan DID get a bat, if briefly and recorded a typical single through gully to give Davo the strike back. Davo hit 7 fours, mainly early on, in his MoM 67 not out as Rowlands posted 133-3 off 16 overs.
The ORP reply had to contend with an in form Rob Burns and James Morris. Robbie took out Ian Tew in the 5th over as the middle stump was uprooted with the score on 26. Adam Holroyd was looking solid and batting well as he saw off James after 3 overs conceding 29 runs. Burnsie recorded a superb 4-0-16-1 to give Rowlands a good start overall with Aiders behind the stumps coping well. Since none of the others fancied a bowl, Roy was introduced and started well Don came on for Robbie and his first over conceded only four singles, then in the second over he boweld both Xohaib (14) and Turnbull. In his third over Alan took a fantastic one handed catch low down at wide mid off and Corbett was bowled for a duck: 3-0-9-4 at this stage for Don. Players were now 88-5 off 14 overs after Roy's useful 4-0-32-0 with Holroyd still creaming some boundaries and Jason Tennis-Wood enjoying some liberties also. Don's final over went for 15 to give 4-0-26-4 leaving ORP half way up their mountain to climb. No mistakes from James in his final over with 12 coming off it for 4-0-41-0. Holroyd was not to be undone and he finished on 64 not out (9 fours) wth T-W on 20 and a respectable reply of 117-5. New boy Gary Straughan had fielded well and there were several good stops in the field by Dave Hawke, Roy, Davo and others. After flipping back from the B side, can Rowlands still win the League?
