Following a merry-go-round of team changes, Rowlands took to the field at Blue Flames with 11 including the athletic young Alexander Dickinson! Batting first, Roy and Davo occupied the first 10 overs of 14 and notched up a useful 70 ish before Roy skied a catch off Andy Horner, out for 27 (2 fours). Promoted Phil hit a quick 9 (one 4) and Alan shored up an end. Davo battled on well to record a MoM 40 with three 4s before being bowled by Purvis playing on. Tom More got 3 and Guy Scholes was bowled first and last ball to become Horner's 4th wicket. Alan survived and struck the ball in front of the wicket, taking Horner for a big boundary 4 over mid on in his 7 not out! Rowlands made 103-5, earning only the first batting point.
In reply, Flames started with Rob Walker and Ed Common. Injured Ian Younger who only turned up to watch was thrown the pink ball first off and he was fairly tidy with 3-0-24-0. Debutant Gary Wigglesworth from the Hebburn squad suffered 21 off his first over but tidied up with only 6 off his second to record 2-0-27-0 with especially Walker taking the toll. Don was introduced and immediately had Walker well caught for 31 just inside the square leg boundary by Roy. Tom More bowled his first spell for Rowlands and it was a tidy 3-0-18-0. Flames were always going to get the runs as Alan juggled his field but Don struck 3 more blows in the process as he bowled quite a mixed bag! Common survived with 30 not out but a bowled and 2 plumb lbws gave Don a flattering 3.4-0-34-4 (and a bowling point!) ruined by two sixes from Horner in his rapid 19 not out. Flames won in the 12th over.
Watching the poor weather forecast for tomorrow night at Cowgate.
