Rowlands hosted Genetics and when Alan lost the toss we were asked to field first. This does not happen often! Pratty bowled some amazing tight stuff first up with 4-1-7-0 well supported by Tom who did a good job with 4-0-18-1, bowling out Jon Bennett. After 8 overs Genetics had only 32 on the board with Davy Reay still at the crease. Rowlands fielding had been alert and tight. Don and Roy were the change bowlers and in his second over Don popped one up for an easy catch at slip by the alert Colin Tait to dismiss Reay for 22. Roy had Davison caught by James Welch then Phil took one on the boundary off another Roy special delivery. The rest of the innings was controlled by Nick Brown who scored 44 not out. There was a stunning catch by Colin very sharp at second slip off Don to remove the threatening Jon
Robinson cheaply. A run out caused by a combination of Adam Tait and James Welch completed the wickets haul of 6 with 126 on the board. The final overs of Don and Roy went for 15 and 24 to give Rowlands something to chase!
Bowling: Don 4-0-42-2, Roy 4-0-52-2 with only 6 extras having passed Alan of the gloves.
Alan sent in the new combination of Colin and Ben with others being juggled for their batting positions. It made no difference since Colin with 29 not out (4 fours) and Ben a magnificent 92 not out (10 fours and 7 sixes) made no mistake in securing the win and maximum batting points. The surrounding ploughed field was well and truely splattered with those boundary shots.
Next week's game is at Cowgate v KIrkwood on Wednesday 6th.
