Rowlands completed a hat-trick of wins by proving just too strong for bogey team The Old Record Players on a glorious evening for cricket at Close House.
Alan Hynd won the important toss and sent in Tim Stonock and a patched up Shaun Collins to ensure a brisk start to the innings. Sure enough the lads obliged with some convincing boundaries which helped to put on 70 before the fall of Tim for 43. Dave Bell joined the attack and Shaun fell for 41 only after the score had passed the 100 mark. Adrian Conway came in and took control with an aggressive 23 including an unbelievably huge eagle six into the golf course.!. Dave Bell's 22 was equally important. Colin Quigley 2-37 and Tony Glover 0-25 showed skill but were not helped by some ORP lapses in the field. The change bowling of Ed Corbett 2-31 included a very smart caught and bowled which dismissed the startled Collins.
The ORP innings included some determination and very quick singles against the stretched RCA field. Dave Fisher 32, Dan Owen 27 secured an adequate first wicket response of 60 against Horner 1-21 and Charlton 0-36. Don Catley bowled a mixed bag with 1-35 and some loose deliveries but was denied more wickets close to the bat. Dave Purvis made things more secure with 2-31 and a splendid matching ct&b as Colin Quigley 22 and Ed Corbett 21 did not give up the chase until the final over.
Great game and good result for Rowlands which sees them return to the top of the Table, displacing ORP.
