Holders go out after good fightback

Rowlands were in trouble when one of the team coaches broke down and they had to field for the first 5 overs with only 8 men.

YAARS batted first with S Anderson 44 and Graham Angus 39 getting them off to a great start. Rhodes and Selms claimed an opener each clean bowled. Was Aslam out of retirement for the cause hit some huge 6s in his 31 before being lbw to Don Catley. YAARS posted 150-4 off 14*8 ball overs. Rowlands then opened well and were up with the chase. Matt Hynd went caught at slip off Surgh Singh for 30 but Shaun Collins pressed on well with 66 before being run out. Roy hit a good quick 10 and Ian Ross then hit a six and a four but Rowlands finished just 2 short of the YAARS total in an exciting finish. Graham Angus was called upon to give the killer blow with a final over off which onlty 6 had been required. His accuracy instead brought 2 wickets for only 2 runs, one bowled and one lbw as Rowlands just failed in a gallant quest for runs.
Rowlands now play TWFB trying to avoid 3 defeats on the spin for teh first time in a long time.
