Rowlands batted first with James and Shaun oozing confidence against the accurate Andy Robinson and the nippy Colin Myers. With 29 on the board James was adjudged caught behind off the nippy one having notched up 18, including three sizeable 4's. Shaun went soon after, bowled by the accurate one for a more modest 10. Alan and Graeme then steadied the ship and kept the total moving whilst seeing off the openers. The change bowlers started OK but eventually bowled some poor stuff with lots of EX Tras. Alan was bowled for a useful 9 but it was left to Grampers to hold the innings together for a long time. His important innings netted 28 runs before getting caught out. In the meantime Aiders got 8, Guy Scholes 9, Davy Holmes 2, Dave Charlton run out for 3 and Don in for the last ball, not facing but running a super-quick non-striker's 2! The rest of the runs came from Jarrod Rhodes with a late flurry of six 4's in his unbeaten, man of the match winning 31. Dave Chamley did not bat.
In their reply, Nine Pins top order looked threatening but Dave Chamley claimed the top three wickets with some lively stuff for his 4-0-34-3, with Tom Nichol 19 making some useful runs. Jarrod bowled 2-0-15-0 without a wicket but perhaps he was still thinking about his impressive batting display. Davy Charlton came on to bowl some very accrate, containing stuff and 4-0-19-2 was his just reward, although he probably should have the credit of an lbw which was not given. At the other end, Don emulated Dave Chamley with 3-0-10-3 but the lower batsmen could not take many runs in compensation for their wickets: a good catch by Grampers and two PLUMB LBWs! Other catchers were Guy (a skyer, well taken twice), Dave Chamley a c&b and Jarrod. Davy Holmes bolwed an over for 2 runs and Aiders mopped up with the incredible figures of six balls, 4 runs 2 wickets. Ben Twizzell had managed to hit 28 but the Pins all fell for 89 to give Rowlands the maximum 10 points.
