Rowlands sneak past West End

Terrific win last night with one ball to spare!

West End got off to a slow start with Macca and Jarrod containing well with two wickets falling, bowled Jarrod and smart take behind by Blair off Jarrod. A long stand by A Shoukat (51) and K Akram (23) accelerated the score with change bowling of Don and Gary Hall. Gordon came on to take 3 wickets - 2 stumpings and a catch by Jarrod. Jarrod came back on to take two more wickets as the West Enders managed a creditable 126-8 with S Ahmed hitting 27.

The start of the Rowlands reply was equally slow with only 30 coming off the first 7 overs. Alan tried hard to work up the pace having lost Blair caught for only 4 and joined by Will Allen for only his second knock of the season. The bowling of A Hussain 4-0-16-0 and A Ali 4-0-30-1 was tight until the last over of Ali went for 17! Alan hit 2 boundaries and many fielders in his hard grafting before being caught for 29 with around 35 runs still needed off fast reducing overs. Will hit 8 fours and a six in his 61 not out having been joined by Grampers. Sensible batting by Grampers with his 17 not out in 1s and 2s swiftly taken ensured that Rowlands came home but with only that one ball to spare. K Azam had bowled well also for his 3-0-19-0. Well done to the team, especially MoM Will but with credites to several others including smart fielding by those not yet mentioned.
