Rowlands batted first and Matt with Ross McLaren amassed a huge total. At the death, Matt was dismissed for 73 and Ross for 104! Well done to both classy batsmen. Will Allen came in for a supporting one not out and Grampers was next to arrive at the crease!
All the Firemen bowlers took big punishment as the boundary was peppered with regularity in the 193-2.
In reply, the Firemen got off to an explosive start, hitting Jarrod and stand in Ian for 33 and 20 in their pairs of overs. The game was transformed with the introduction of Don in the 5th over when he bowled Turnbull with his first ball and then took two more wickets in this over with good clean catches by Matt and Ross. At the other end, the player destined to become man of the match was still just warming up! Dave Charlton did a Muralie and went through the rest of hte side claiming 3.2-0-17-5 to better Don's 3-0-20-3. Interspersed with this excitement, Alan brought Grampers and Roy into the game to try their hands with the ball. The Firemen never gave up the run chase and Flynn hit 31, Burdis 45 and S. McGuire 20 with Roy 1-0-29-0, Grampers 2-0-21-0 in their 153 all out.
