Rowlands beat West End and the rain last night thanks to a devastating spell of 3-2-5-3 from Rob Wilson and that was three wickets in his first over followed by two maidens! West End elected to bat and slumped to 70 all out. Eddie bowled generously (2-0-29-0) to make a game of it but James Morris 4-0-20-3 and Don 2-0-8-2 turned the screw, especially with an eye on the angry sky. There was a smart stumping from Matt and caught and bowleds for Rob and James. Don got another LBW granted by Eddie Collins Snr and Alan took a good catch for Don at mid on.
The Rowlands reply was held up by steady bowling of Khalid Azam 4-0-21-0 with Colin and Davo progressing cautiously. Colin fell bowled by F 'Bossy' Hussain for 16 (1 four) with the score on 30. Keith Brown arrived at the crease and soon familiarised himself with the outer field to reach a quick 17 not out (2 fours) whilst James survived some tricky balls to see us through also with 30 not out (4 fours). Rowlands won by 9 wickets and beat the rain by just less than 2 hours!
Thanks to Shaun and Eddie Senior for umpiring an innings and to Eddie Jnr for making it a contest!
