Kirkwood elected to bat with their 8 men and guest from Cumberland, Yoosuf Sharafath. Dave Charlton started them off with an impressive maiden and continued pressure to record 4-1-21-2. James Morris was more generous at the other end: 3-0-30-0 as the batsmen ran for everything going and started to find the boundary, aided by a superfast outfield and lofted drives. Sadho stuck around for ages for his 42 with N Hussain 31 and Parag Chauhan 25 aiding. Don got a wicket off his second ball thanks to a second catch by Ross McLaren with Keith Brown feeding the run machines to record 4-0-49-1 but eventually claiming a wicket off the last ball and a second bowling point! Don got a second wicket for 4-0-29-2 and Roy one with 1-0-10 (at least he says!) -1. Kirkwood managed to achieve 155-7 with 19 from Yaseen and 17* from the Deep. Matt kept well including a smart catch and Alan took a catch at deep mid off for Roy.
A brilliant opening stand between Ross McLaren 64 (8 fours, 2 sixes) and Lewis Bruce 25 (4,4,6) took the game away from Kirkwood thanks to quick running and some huge, classy drives and cuts. Sunil Malhotra was welcomed back after what seems like 25 years! He took lots of balls in the field, especially off the early overs of Dave and then contributed with 24* (4 fours) off the bat whilst Roy notched up 15* (2 fours). There was also lots more batting in the Green Room, viz: Keith, James Morris, Matt, Alan, Don and Dave but Rowlands won with 159-3 in 12.1 overs!
