Adders History
Formed over twenty years ago, the Adders Cricket Club originated from the Maths Department at Newcastle University. After many years of playing friendlies against teams all over the region, and using Close House for its home matches, the Adders joined the mid-league five years ago. The team gained promotion in each of its first three years, always coming second after leading the division for much of the season (the words 'it' and 'bottled' come to mind!). After sneaking into the first division a few years ago, the Adders swiftly returned to the second division after a difficult season when key players moved away and replacements were hard to find.
The Club now plays its home matches at Backworth. With an enhanced squad, the Adders are looking forward to an enjoyable season in Division Two, where many of its old adversaries and friends also play.
