Happy New Year to all our clubs and supporters. We hope 2020 is a great year for cricket. England in South Africa is a good start; well done to our local lads!
Please find attached the Agenda for the AGM. The meeting will be downstairs in the Amble Suite.
Registration forms should be supplied soonest and before or at the AGM together with fees of £50. Receipts will be issued at the AGM.
Despite the unfortunate late resignation of PriceWaterhouse owing to office moves, it is looking likely that there will be 4 divisions again this season.
Sponsor News: Further to his generous set of prizes for the Presentations Evening raffle, Steve Flanagan has already given us his cheque for next season's sponsorship.

Several clubs have indicated the possibility of introducing a second team. This will be welcomed at the AGM with the Management Committee meeting on 11th February to formalise any associated special considerations identified at the AGM.
A potential divisional structure (of either 3 or 4 divisions) may be downloaded. This is based on information to hand and clubs are requested to update donc@blueyonder.co.uk with any changes to likely registrations.

The Dentons joined the league as members of the Cooksons team in 1982 when the Third Division was first formed.
In 1983, Ian Denton organised the first Awards Presentations Evening at which 130 cricketers and wives/girlfriends attended.
In 1989 Ian Denton took over from George Thornton as Assistant Secretary.
Valerie Denton was Information Secretary 1992, 1993 and 1996 with Gordon Grear fulfilling this role in 1994 and 1995.
In 1999 Ian Denton was appointed League Officer to ensure consistency of supervision across all divisions.
Both Ian and Valerie resigned from the Management Committee in 2004 and Cooksons withdrew from the League after the 2005 season..

Sadly, our former Assistant Secretary and League Officer, Ian Denton has passed away. His funeral was on Friday.
Sympathies are expressed to Ian's wife Valerie who was also very much involved in the running of the League and issuing the Information Newsletters.
The news was conveyed by Aidan Love, a former Cooksons CC team mate.
>> Ian had been diagnosed a few years ago and things had been up and down. He took early retirement just over a year ago but unfortunately spent most of his time with treatment and stays in hospital. Despite his many problems he always remained positive, even at the end he just wanted to go home to be with Valerie and the dogs for his remaining days.
Ian's funeral was last Friday, there was a good turn out and there were plenty of cricket stories retold. Appropriately the final tune at the crematorium was the theme to "Test Match Special"
RIP Ian Denton.
