RIP Phillip Hughes

The North-East Mid-Week Cricket League would like to add to the global sympathy for the family, friends and fellow players of Phillip Hughes which all cricket is expressing.

We are a grass roots league, mere minnows compared with the Australian Test squad, but this disaster has struck at all levels of the sport. Indeed it has surely raised awareness of the fragile nature of life in general.

Perhaps this freak and tragic accident will put into perspective all minor issues on the field and at least help to promote a higher standard of respect for all other players in the intended true spirit of the game.

News from the Management Committee to all clubs

The deliberations of the Management Committee Meeting held 18th November are attached. Main items are:
1. The recommendation of use of play-cricket in addition to the current scorecards and information sheets with midweekcricket.com. Ian Wardle is currently providing guidance on use of play-cricket to the MC.
2. Reducing the Just Sport Cup final to 16 overs to enable a 16 overs Plate competition (for teams eliminated in Round 1) also on a Finals Day.
3. All Clubs please reconfirm your intention to participate in 2015, if not already done so, and fixtures will then be drafted. Sadly Old Record Players have resigned after many seasons.
4. Draft fixtures and Registration Forms will be issued late December with a Calling Notice for the AGM 3rd Feb.

Attached is the Agenda for the meeting which will be attended by MC members and others who may request to attend. This includes a first DRAFT of the proposed Divisional structure for 2015.
