League season starts with a win

Genetics turned form on its head with a classy win against old rivals St Teresas at Heaton. Jon Rob opened the innins as Mike Gardner failed to turn up in time, and showed his class with an opportunist's knock of 53 as Genetics made 96-5 in 14 overs. It didn't seem enough but St Teresas were never in the hunt and could only reply with 60-7 in their allotted overs. Chris Mee found himself amongst the wicket takers with figures of 4-0-8-2, while van Doorn grabbed 2 wickets at the close.
