Winning Start to Season

Akin to the inter toto cup Mitford were required to prequalify for the Midweek league cup. Despite a poor forecast and a damp outfield the sun shone on Mitford Park for the 1st match of the season at Mitford park. Winning the toss and electing to bat Mitford made steady progress on the slow pitch. Decent contributions by Colin, Ell and Scott were aided by a fine debut by Barakat as we batted out our 14 overs for 96 runs, a couple of tight run outs contributed to the 8 wickets lost.
Typical tight Bowling by Lawson restricted Park House to less that 20 runs at the half way mark, with Graham Parks Athletic Folding a highlight in the field. Wickets by Eshan, Ell and Col and 2 run outs by Jackson and The Bear kept the visitors from establishing a winning position and they finished their 14 overs some 25 runs short of the winning target.
