Belmont C.C. - Our midweek history.

Up until the end of 2008 we had a team which played midweek fixtures in the now defunct Tyne and Wear Cricket League, we applied in early 2009 to join the North East Mid-Week Cricket League and look forward to trips to Bedlington and other places North of the Tyne.

2009 - Our inaugural season in the North East Midweek Cricket league was a baptism of fire, not only was finding the new grounds a test (ask the skipper) but we came up against some very talented teams who all had the "intensity" switch on HIGH! Something we aren't quite used to in our sedate Durham League - needless to say we won some, we lost more and we had some fun. Here's hoping 2010 is a more competitive attempt by BCC to fit in to the league and who knows maybe a promotion drive/cup run could be on the cards? Watch this space..... Or more to the point watch the results/stats page!!

2010 - We showed a bit more about us in 2010, some good results against the stronger teams meant we actually gained promotion, still no win in the cup though!
Once we got used to nice, even tracks we started to pick up more wins and bonus points, safe to say that we wish our Saturday wickets were as good!

2011 - Our first season in Division 4 saw us come up against some very good teams and a couple of indifferent ones, we finished fifth (which we would have taken at the start of the season) and gained a second successive promotion along with Spitfires and KSOB, may the rivalry continue in 2012 and in Division 3 - the grounds are easier to find now! Still not won a cup match however........
