Mitford Six-a-Side - YAARs do it again!!!

(Posted On Mon 26 July, 2010)

Mitford Six-a-Side 25/07/10

Once again the YAARs triumphed in the Super Sixes Mitford 6-a-side cricket completion…..

A crack team of commandos led by Commander Rolly “Big Largin”, scrambled their way into the Mitford super 6’s competition - a charity competition hosted by Mitford Cricket Club (Beside Morpeth), on behalf of

RVI Leukemia Research……

The event raised approximately, £3,500 - a huge success - and credit to those involved and those that supported the event.

In a hard fought group YAARs seen off Belsay YAARS 90 off 5 overs Belsay 56 of their 5 - in the first game Alvi proved to be the destroyer hitting 40odd in ney time - launching some big en’s he thought he was back in his hay day……….DC Rana Naveed then went on to blast the fastest 50 over seen - on the planet - DC finished 81 no out in 5 over’s aginst Mallards who boasted Steve Harmison and Paul Collingwood - at one stage DC hitting 4 sixes in a row of Harmison - he was unable to emulate my record in the North East Midweek League of 5 - YES, 5 sixes in an over by ME, your truly…..

YAARs finishing on 115 for 1 in 5 overs……….beating Mallard……….and moving into the semi finals………..

YAAR’s then faced a difficult encounter versus Chopwell, although there was a little banter - the serious side of the game came out - YAARs batted first - Alvi and DC didn’t get it all their own way - DC was shown the pavilion after being caught and bowled - the YAARS ended with 66 in 5 overs - DC the opened the bowling and got pasted by Hornsby and Lee Innes - Zayn took the fight to them - being a true Ahmed 333 warrior - got a caught behind and then cleaned up the top two………….Billy Eh Ahmed led the fight back with one of his famous sliders - rushing the batman into pulling one flat straight down the ground- it was travelling for 6 and DC snapped up a fantastic catch to turn the game, Munna bowled well - and Jack Hashim - the death bowler mixed it up well as Chopwell required 18 and couldn’t get bat on bowl as Jackie bowled leg cutters, off cutters, china-men, and all sorts…..
Bring on the final - YAARs beat the hosts Mitford in a hard fought final- YAARS were made to work as DC and Alvi found it difficult to hit boundaries - their foooook had gone, then some excellent bowling Munna and Basit Nuclear Aktar Awan - cleaning up the stumps with an inswinging yorker.....seen the YAARS home......on the whole hard to believe but there was some exceptional fielding by the YAARs....great win, for a great cause, YAARS 65 for 3 (5 overs) and Mitford 54 for 4 (5 overs)....
