Having had to deal with the loss of a good friend and our club secretary and ex captain Nasar (early in the season), GEM have really turned a corner with some dominant performances throughout the season.
Good batting has been ably backed by decent bowling from our pacers and spinners alike.
Here hoping GEM can have a strong pre season and take on the teams in the top division in the league, next year, with much of the same!

West End v GEM C.C (26 June 2008) – 14 over League Match Played @ Heaton Medicals.
Greeted by some rare sunshine West End won the toss and chose to bat. They were all out for '120' in 13.4 over’s (8 ball overs). GEM bowled with a lot of discipline and were duly rewarded by bowling out the league leaders. GEM's most successful bowler on the day was the talented all-rounder A. Ahmed who returned 3|0|20|4.
GEM began the run chase in superb fashion. The opening batsman (F. Ahmed '43' & A. Javid '34') put on 84 runs in 11.2 overs. With a further 37 runs required from 22 balls, entered K. Khan & T. Alam, who between them hit two 4's and a huge 6 over deep mid wicket to bring GEM to the brink but they both departed when a further 6 runs were required of the last over.
GEM's 2 most senior pro's (M. Hussein & N. Hussain) managed to get bat to ball in the tense final moments of the match and quite literally of the last ball of the match brought GEM a morale boosting win after 3 successive defeats.
Team: Faizaan, Amar, Kamran(F-16), Mukhtar(Bob), Tafseer, Nasar, Ani, Nasser(c), Ayaz, Aqeel, Ali(wk).
