On a wet windy August evening stand in skipper wins the toss and decides to bowl, (in the words of Billy Ahmed "Wuddah Beshurum, got not bottle").
Zayn bowled very well and could have the early breakthrough was it not for the athletic Marc Chootay and Old Man Billy Ahmed.....don't worry Z, poor field placing by the skipper.
Surj and Neel had the Civil Servants in a spin.
Then young Basit came on aka 'Shoaib' lovely fluent run up and some hostile fast bowling.....even Farruk 'Rolland' Engineer had his helmet on standing behind the sticks.
Got to add the exhibition of wicket keeping from aka Farruk Engineer was a pleasure - Two 'tremendous' catches
and a 'spectacular' exhibition of glove work, it was 'fabulous'.....Ladies and Gentlemen it gave me great pleasure just to be in his presence.....
Anyway, Civil Service were bowled out for 77 in 12 overs, with wickets shared around, Zayn, Surj, Neel, Basit, and Big Oaksy.....
The Yaars run chase began with Skipper 'Alfred da Great' opening the batting, the dug deep in very difficult conditions - a gritty 25 earning him the MOM (He also fills in the score card). Big Oaksy 'pinch-hitting' got the Yaars off to a flyer. The big fella hauled out to a spectacular catch at backward point. Marc Chootay came to the wicket after his batting exhibition on Saturday for Clara.....he promptly has his middle stump uprooted....confirming his status as a bowler.
Young Walter Waleed, standing in for bro Omar came to the wicket and showed as Beefy says - "form is temporary, class is permanent"....also bowled - as Norman 'Wisdom' turned the screw on the Yaars - Farruk Engineer 23no aka Yaars pro came to the wicket to add some stability - and take the game away from the Servants.......
Well dun to all, that’s all folks!!!
